MILTON BERLE, sixteen, made his solo debut at Loew’s State Theater in Times Square on this date in 1924. The former Milton Berlinger starred in vaudeville, radio, and movies, but is best known as one of television’s first great stars. He appeared on NBC’s “Texaco Star Theater” from 1948 to 1954, earning the nicknames “Uncle Miltie” and “Mr. Television.”
